Public Relations

Brand your Kiwanis event.

The fall is upon us with winter not far behind, and Kiwanians begin thinking about fund raising and service projects galore! Why not take advantage of the season and "get the word out" about Kiwanis and what we are all about.

When planning your next public Kiwanis event, think about how you can add a visual Kiwanis identity to the occasion by showcasing your club name and the Kiwanis wordmark or logo. It's important to establish a Kiwanis "brand" for easy identification and association with your public, and make sure readers of your local newspaper see the Kiwanis name when your photo is printed alongside your article submission. Highlight your club name and the wordmark or logo on fliers and advertisements for the event. Consider different ways to identify your club and active participants on the day of the event:

Several other ways to showcase your club would be club-designed handouts or brochures (templates are available to download from the Kiwanis website), collages of Kiwanis publications and/or photos of club activities, and wearing your "K" all the time. Oft times just the pin alone will give the impetus to an inquiry of what Kiwanis is all about.

The 2008-09 Public Relations awards will be awarded at the Mid-Winter in March 2010.

This year, the year of Booker's Builders, there will be a Public Relations Banner Patch instead of an award. The NEW CRITERIA for the PR Project Banner Patch for 2009-10 is now available. These patches will be sent upon receipt of application from the club president.

I look forward to hearing from all of you this year for the new 2009-10 PR Project Banner Patch!!
