What a fantastic weekend with our new Lt. Governors' Training Conference for 2017-18. I am so very proud to have such a great team. Their hard work and dedication as a team says it all.
It's sad to say that at this time we do not have a lieutenant governor for the Southwestern Division. Clubs in a division without a lieutenant governor are at a disadvantage as they do not have a continuity of communication from the governor or the district office to their clubs and members. Please consider serving as lieutenant governor. It's a very exciting and rewarding year.
Membership is a MUST: This is up to us - the outcome is dependent on how well we focus on:
Membership Growth: Every community needs a Kiwanis club and every club needs new members. Bringing in new members is your chance to change the future of your club and the kids in your community.
Retention: No matter how retention is described, it comes down to maintaining a relationship with members. With any relationship it's about open communication, information sharing, making people feel valued, and having FUN. With these elements present, your club will have an exciting atmosphere that will not only retain members, but attract new ones. Our members are Kiwanis' strongest assets. Without members there is no substance to our organization and our kids will suffer.
Opening New Clubs: If you're passionate about making a difference and helping kids then join our Formula Team in opening a new club in a community near you. Your neighbors are best served when people work together and share their time, talent and treasures. The Kids are waiting!
My governor's Projects will be "Children with Special Needs" and "No Veterans Left Behind." Information on how to participate in these project will be available at the District Convention in August in Lake Placid.
Returning for 2017-18 is the "EVERYDAY HERO" program. Also with special recognition of members, your club, lieutenat governors, Distinguished Kiwanians, all with an element of SUPER Distinguished mixed in.
Our SLP chairmen could use some help. If you're interested in working with the K-Kids, Builders Club, or an Aktion Club, please contact the respective chairman to ask how you can help. We would like to have additional four Kiwanians helping each SLP throughout the district.
Additional help is needed with our BUG, Terrific Kids and the Read Around the World programs. Please contact me if you are willing to help with these programs. Also, a few district chairmanships are available.
As we continue to help Gov. Stephen fulfill his year, let us have fun and accomplish his goals for the betterment of our children and our communities.
See you at District Convention in Lake Placid. God Bless.
