There have been cancellations, postponements, and a hold put on so many of our Kiwanis events.
Yet, the New York district of Kiwanis, has done service, held meetings, and even had fundraisers to support our communities.
As Kiwanians, we have been asked to think outside our comfort zones, and to rise to the call of service. We are doing membership roundups on virtual meetings, creating engagement to remind people that Kiwanis has not gone anywhere, and when we are finally able to meet in person, we will be prepared to meet the needs of our communities.
There is much we can do right now, to plan for our future. Go to the Kiwanis International website and head over to your personal dashboard, and take an online class for Youth Protection, or Google the Achieving Club Excellence tool from Kiwanis, and began to survey your members.
Reach out to other members of your club, check in with them, and see how they are getting through this pandemic. You may be surprised how much a short call means to people.
Take advantage of the zero add fees for new members for both Kiwanis International and the New York District (until Sept. 30), and invite people to join Kiwanis. Be creative.
Remember to be kind, we never know what someone is going through.
