2015 Kiwanis International Convention
Saturday, July 27
A Kiwanis version of the Family Feud TV show was being played in the World Showcase area. Saturday morning two New York Teams took the challenge. The Blue Team, left, consisted of Kimberly Davis, Brenda Leigh Johnson and Gov. Eric G. Paul, with Past Gov. Joe Aiello, right, providing some coaching. On the Blue Team were District Master Trainers Rich Hall and Allison Mandel and Governor's Executive Assistant David Morse.
Paul is at left and Aiello is coaching Davis at the podium. Morse is waiting for his turn. The woman with her back to the camera is running the game.
Hall, Mandel and Morse consider an answer. They were the winners, by a score of 156-0.
Closing Session
Riley Hospital in Indiana has grown into a major medical center with the support of the Indiana District of Kiwanis. Appearing on stage to say thanks were Daniel and Katie Curry; Katie received a kidney transplant, with her father as the donor.
President Dr. John Button reads a letter of congratulations on Kiwanis' centennial from President Obama.
The four newly elected members of the Kiwanis International Board of Trustees, from left, John DeVilbiss of the Ohio District, Terry White of the Indiana District, Lance Incitti of the New Jersey District, and Daniel Vigneron of the Belgium-Luxembourg District, who was elected earlier in June at the European Federation Convention.
The Kiwanis leadership for 2015-16, with their titles for next year: President Susan Petrisin, Past President Dr. John Button, President-Elect Jane Erikson, Vice President James Rochford and Executive Director Stan Soderstram.
Before Petrisin took the stage to give her speech as Kiwanis' first female president, the Michigan State University mascot celebrated the win by an MSU graduate who is the MSU Alumni director.
Petrisin described how she served as Key Club governor for Michigan and then later as Circle K governor for the state, but had to wait until 1987 to become a Kiwanian due to the organization's former ban on female members.
The event ended with all in attendance singing "We are Family," with Sister Sledge, the musical group behind the 1979 hit, leading the singing.
Button and his wife Debbie join in the singing.
