Joseph Ruggiero was elected Governor for 2019-20 and Brenda Leigh Johnson was elected Governor-Elect for 2019-20 at the House of Delegates Saturday afternoon.

Both ran without opposition.

The Jerry Christiano Distinguished Service Award was presented to Past Lt. Gov. Keith Cummings, for his work at Kamp Kiwanis and in his anti-bullying work.

The award is presented to one person each year by the Past Governor's Council to honor a member for their service to the district.

Delegates also approved several resolutions, the most significant of which was an endorsement of the election of Kiwanis International Vice President-Designate Peter Mancuso as Kiwanis International President Elect at the 2020 international convention in Indianapolis. Mancuso was elected vice president at this year's international convention and will run unopposed for president-elect next June. The delegates' expressing of support for his candidacy was the last requirement for that to happen.

Other resolutions thanked Gov. Hank Baker for his service, those who were instrumental in planning and managing the convention, and thanking Kiwanis International Counselor Dr. Ernest Schmid for his participation in the convention.
