Distinguished Members and Distinguished Clubs
The Distinguished Member Program for the 2021-22 year is now online. If you have achieved all of the requirements below please send the form back to Chairman Kevin Kamper knkamper@gmail.com.
The process is simple to apply. Here is what it takes for you to receive recognition from the district:
- You can sponsor or co-sponsor a new member during the 2021-22 administrative year. Just tell a friend of all the great work we do. It is every member's responsibility to try to add to our membership.
- Complete the three Praesidium abuse prevention training on-line modules Preventing Sexual Activity, Social Media and Abuse Risk Management. (See https://www.kiwanis.org/clubs/member-resources/training/risk-management/youth-protection/yp-training-resources)
You then must complete four of the following six tasks:
- Participate in a project or activity with any of our service and leadership programs. This can be anything involving our K Kids, Builders Clubs, Key Club, Circle K or Aktion Club. Consider having your club work with any of our sponsored SLP in any way. You will be impressed by what our future leaders can do.
- Donate or participate in any fundraiser that benefits a Kiwanis foundation. This includes Kamp Kiwanis, Disaster Relief, Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center, Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease, Kiwanis Children's fund, the Thirst Project or Project Wash. Any donation is appreciated.
- Support New York District Governor Jim Mancuso's Governor's project "Save the Earth for our Children". The project is focused on awareness and education of environmental issues, specifically proper recycling and water conservation. A joint project with your service leadership program as a collaborative effort would be a great way to support the program.
- Participate in any two service projects. They can be from your club, or you can partner with any other club. With so many service projects there are so many opportunities.
- Attend three different events. They can be the New York District Mid-Year Conference in February, New York District Convention in August, Kiwanis International Convention in June, local education conference, online education conference, divisional or any of our SLP conferences such as Key Club Fall Rally, Key Club Leadership Conference in March, Circle K New York Speaking or New York District Circle K Convention.
- Help develop a new partnership with another community organization or business. So many are serving our communities so why not reach out to them and develop a partnership. Some examples of partnerships are reaching out to your local chamber of commerce, Rotary, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and any other organizations that serve your community. You could even partner with a local business and bring them in as a corporate member.
After you have brought in your new member and completed four of the six above, just send in the form and the three Praesidium certificates to Kevin Kamper, and your certificate and pin will be sent to your Lieutenant Governor.

Please note that to qualify for a Distinguished Kiwanian, a three module Youth Protection Training needs to be completed and submitted with the application by mail or email.
The modules through Praesidium are: Preventing Sexual Activity, Social Media and Abuse Risk Management. The courses are FREE to any Kiwanian in good standing (dues are paid).
Also note for Distinguished Club recognition, the Club President and Secretary must complete the three modules on or before Sept. 30, 2022, and submit the three certificates with the application for Distinguished Club.
