2008 Kamp Kiwanis Open House
Many dedications took place May 3 at the annual Open House at Kamp Kiwanis. Above, Past Gov. Joseph Corace (third from left) with Sal Anelli, foundation board president (left) and members of Joe's Heroes with the new bench at kamp in memory of their work. Joe's Heroes were his lieutenant governors and other administrators for 2006-07. Below is Past Gov. Bob Calabrese (wearing sunglasses) with several members of his family. They are standing behind the new bench honoring him for his support of the kamp. Several other dedications and memorials were noted, including a bench honoring Charlie Bowe, a member of the LaGuardia Airport club for 45 years, and a portrait of recently deceased Past Gov. Tony Palangi which will be hung at the kamp. Above, Past Governor Pat Cooney (wearing baseball cap) speaks about his grandson, Spencer, who was killed in a car accident. Spencer is honored with a brick on Governors' Hall, which is behind him. Foundation President Sal Anelli (right) speaking to those who assembled for the dedications. Anelli (back to camera) speaking about the contribution by the Patchogue Club which will be used to build a new cabin planned for the upper cabin area. The ribbon marks the spot where the cabin is planned to be.
A plaque was hung (temporarily for the event) on one of the cabins in the upper cabin area noting that it has been adopted by the Brooklyn West End club in memory of Harry Pincus.
