Student of the Month Honored

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks Student of the Month for October is Ava Dornbugh.
Ava moved to the Town of Webb in her freshman year and since then she has participated in Chorus, Band, A Cappella Choir, Drama Club, Stage Band, Travel Club and played Varsity Soccer.
Ava has been Key Club President in both her junior and senior year. She is also the ex officio student member of the Board of Education. Ava also serves as the Secretary of the National Honor Society and the Tri-Music Honor Society.
For the last 7 years Ava has been studying multiple forms of dance at Utica Dance. In her sophomore and junior years she was named a Borlaug Scholar for her research and presentation of scientific and policy recommendations by the World Food Prize New York Youth Institute at Cornell University. For the past 2 years Ava helped create and edit the school yearbook and continues to do so this year.
Her summers have been occupied by working at Blue Line Coffee House and Benny's Ice Cream Shop. Since her sophomore year Ava has participated in The Bernadette A. Eichler Youth Ambassador Program with Business Utica. She plans to study business and management in college and later attend law school.
Ava is the daughter of Dana and Brian Dornburgh of Old Forge, NY and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge.
The selection criteria for the kiwanis student of the month are community service, academics, athletic involvement, student need and extra-curricular activities.
