The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and The Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association recognized Charles LeFavour and Cosette Taylor both of Old Forge as Students of the Year for 2023-24.
Charles LeFavour is the Kiwanis Student of the Year and Cosette Taylor is the TOW PBA Student of the Year.
Charles is the son of Charles LeFavour and Karen Fedder-LeFavour, played soccer, basketball, and golf. He is a member of Key Club and National Honor Society. Charles plans to attend college and go into the medical field.
Cosette, the daughter of Daniel and Sarah Taylor, participated in soccer, volleyball, softball and track. She is president of the National Honor Society and the Old Forge Junior Fire Department. Cosette enjoys working with children and volunteers through the ESCO Program helping in the Kindergarten Classroom each morning. She attended Empire Girls State and plans to attend Alfred State College and become a registered nurse.
Carman Mastroianni Kiwanis President, Dana Dornburgh: TOW School Co-Key Club Advisor and School Counselor and Tracy F. Deis: Co-Key Club Advisor and Special Education Teacher presented an Award Certificate and $500 scholarship to Charles and Officer Trevor Tormey/TOW School Resource Officer representing the PBA presented an Award Certificate and $500 scholarship to Cosette.
Each month from October to April the Town of Webb School Selection Committee selects a Student of the Month. Each of those students received an Award Certificate and $100, and with their parents were invited to a Kiwanis Recognition Event to make a brief presentation. A committee of Town of Webb School Administrators and Kiwanis members met recently to choose the Students of the Year.
