The global service partnership already established between Kiwanis and UNICEF was further solidified on Feb. 15 with the formal presentation of the charter of the UNICEF Kiwanis club that is comprised of employees of the US Fund for UNICEF, one of 37 non-governmental organizations around the world impacting the lives of children.
The officers and members received their Charter Membership certificates and pins from Kiwanis International Vice President Tom DeJulio and Metropolitan Division Lt. Governor Jim Milone who congratulated the spirited new members and thanked them for their commitment to the Kiwanis mission.
Kiwanis International Staff Area Director Lanton Lee, Distinguished Past Governors Peter Mancuso and Joseph Corace, standing in for Immediate Past Governor David Booker and current Governor Mike Malark, expressed the support of Kiwanis and presented the gavel, gong, and banner.
The club will be led by its president, Lacey Stone, who indicated her members' desire to fulfill their membership responsibilities by not only supporting the ELIMINATE campaign to end the horrific deaths of mothers and newborns infected by tetanus, but also to work with Kiwanis-sponsored youth organizations to address many other local community needs.
