There was plenty of excitement in the air as close to 80 members and guests of the various Kiwanis Clubs in the Hudson River West gathered at Shannen Park on Tuesday, August 2. Why were they gathered at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday? For the Charter Installation of the Aktion Club of the FEC/HRW (Family Empowerment Council/Hudson River West), the first Aktion Club in the Hudson River West Division!
This newest Aktion Club, is sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Chester, Middletown and Minisink Valley. As sponsors, they will work closely with the Club's officers to guide them in their activities.
The Aktion Club Charter Officers are Debbie Acoveno, President; David Hocutt, Vice President; Eileen Dennehy, Secretary; Vanessa Montellese, Treasurer; and Board Members Erika Galeazzi, Gil Palazzo, Alan Boyd, and Norah O'Malley. Assisting during their first year of existence will be Distinguished Past Lt. Governor Ed Stoddard - Chester Kiwanis, Jim McCormack - Minisink Valley Kiwanis, and Lt. Governor Pat Flynn - Middletown Kiwanis. In addition, Danielle Sinclair and Barbara Raymond from the Family Empowerment Council will also be advisors.
Other Charter Members of the Aktion Club of FEC/HRW are Alan Perry, Derek Wagner, Amanda Buck, Jeanne Vassuer, Anthony Chirarella, John McAndrew, Anthony Ward, Kevin McDonald, Bill Boyan, Latisha Moore, Bridget Henderson, Michael Plum, Carly Unterberger, Nicole Underwood, Chris Ploski, Rebecca Horrace, Daniel Makofske, and Ryan Pepper.
