Show Your Pride in Kiwanis

You can apply to the New York DMV for license plates which feature Kiwanis International's logo and name on them. See the example at right.

The plates cannot be ordered online or at a local DMV office. They require submission of a letter authorizing you to purchase the plates and a completed DMV form, and payment.

You have a choice to let DMV assign you a number for the plate, or to order a personalized plate number. The initial fee for the assigned number plate is $85. The initial fee for a customized plate is $116.25.

The renewal fees are $56.25 for the assigned number, and $87.50 for the personalized one. The renewal fees are annual fees which will be owed in following years.

If you want a customized number, you are allowed no more than 6 letters, numbers and spaces.

Put your name in the blank space on the permission letter.

The effort to make the plates available began in the mid 1990's, when legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Vince Graber, then Ivan Lafayette, then George Latimer (now Westchester County Executive), and eventually Distinguished Past Lt. Gov. Mike Miller of Glendale in Queens. In the state Senate, our "stars" were Dale Volker and now Patrick Gallivan of Elma, a West Seneca member.

Past Gov. Eric Paul worked with Distinguished Past Lt. Gov. Woody Rider of Long Island North since the very beginning on these plates.

This is potentially a great public relations and membership tool.
