Four by-law amendments were proposed in advance of the convention, all with the same sponsors. Here's a summary of what they proposed:
Proposal 1:
In 2013-14, clubs paid the district $19.50 per year per member as district dues and $4.50 per member to the District Foundation to support publication of the Empire State Kiwanian.
The proposal replaced those two amounts with one payment of $24 to be per-member district dues, and authorized the District Board to charge a new member fee, which could not exceed $24.
Proposal 2:
This proposal would only be voted upon if Proposal 1 failed. It proposed increasing the district dues to $24, without changing the $4.50 paid for the Empire State Kiwanian. It also had the same provision as Proposal 1 regarding a new member fee.
Proposal 3:
This proposal would only be voted upon if Proposals 1 and 2 both failed. It would only create the new member fee.
Proposal 4:
This proposal changed the by-laws regarding the Empire State Kiwanian so that the District, not the Foundation, was responsible for its publication.
By-Law Amendments required two-thirds approval from the 298 delegates in the House.
A paper ballot was conducted on Proposal 1 and it was approved. Proposals 2 and 3 were withdrawn, and then after a failed move to postpone action on Proposal 4, it too was approved.
The delegates unanimously approved 5 resolutions:
- Honoring the Convention Honorees.
- Thanking the Convention Committee for its efforts.
- Thanking International President Gunter Gasser and First Lady Christiana Gasser for their participation in the convention.
- Noting that the Gerald P. Christiano Award had been awarded to Don Bach, a member of the Kiwanis Club of East Aurora.
- Supporting the candidacy for the Kiwanis International Board of Trustees of Past Distinguished Gov. Peter Mancuso at the 2016 Kiwanis International Convention in Toronto.
